I’ve always loved music of all kinds. But as I got back into playing drums in rock bands about 12 years ago, I realized that with rock, there are many artists I never gave a chance. With this blog, Music I Missed, I’m going to try to fill in this huge gap in my rock knowledge. Thanks to the recommendations of about 100 friends, I’ll be listening to albums and then posting mini reviews of what I hear. A big thanks to Barry Veerkamp, digital tech rock star, for helping me to get this going. And to Alice Taylor, who invited me to help her launch an online project about country-rock in 2021, which helped me get my head back into the thinking deeply about music. And to my sis, Mary Ellen Griffiths, for teaching about Spotify. And now…LET’S ROCK.
Music first stung me when I heard a recording of Artie Shaw’s “Traffic Jam” when I was a little kid. From there, I opened my ears to every kind of music. But with rock, I was too selective. Now I’m trying to fill that gap.
